in-line speaker emits a noise when the beacon is transmitting, which serves as
an alert to help reduce the incidence of accidental activation, and allows you
to test the operation of the beacon periodically. Manually-activated beacon
measures only 6''H x 2.6''W x 1.6''D (without antenna), and weighs only 9.2
oz., so it's small enough to fit in a pocket or life raft canister. Lithium
battery has a 6-year replacement/12-year useful life. Its double-wound antenna
resists damage while stored, a special knurled surface provides a secure grip,
and it floats!
The Survival Kit includes the Firefly Plus strobe/flashlight, a safety
whistle, and a four-pack of 4'' x 4'' retro-reflective patches that you can
