BoatMates®
is a designer,
manufacturer, and distributor of products for the Marine, R/V, and Sporting
Goods markets. Our products are designed to be simple, unique, and cost
effective solutions to the specialized storage and organization needs of a
compact, mobile environment.
We manufacture and distribute our products from our headquarters in suburban
Cleveland, Ohio. Our products are sold through specialty marine retailers,
dealers, and distributors. We also sell to R/V dealers and distributors, and
to outdoor sporting goods retailers.

Who
is BoatMates?
BoatMates Marine Accessories, is a division of HCL,Ltd., which also markets products to the RV, and sporting goods markets under the brand names Catawba Bay, and LumiGlo. We are located in Twinsburg, Ohio, where we manufacture and distribute our products to national retailers, and distributors. We also export to Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Where can I buy your products? Our products are available at your local independent marine ships store or dealer, or from national retailers such as BoatUS, Boaters World, Overton’s, and West Marine, and at many Wal-Mart marine departments. If you cannot locate our product at a retailer near you, please contact us, toll free, at 1-877-2 STOW IT, and we will direct you to a retailer in your area. Do the suction cups really work? Yes they do. We manufacture our own patented suction cup from virgin polymers, for pliability, UV resistance, and holding power. We do not use imported, or off-spec materials in the manufacturing process. Just follow the simple guidelines on the package for best results. We sell a lot of our products to Charter Captains for use on their boats, and they love the ease of mounting, and the ability to move the items around to suit number of people on the charter. They usually give them to their clients at the end of the day. Will the suction cups stick to everything? No. You must use on a non-porous surface, such as fiberglass, smooth aluminum or steel, or very highly polished and sealed wood. A rough surface, that lets air interuppt the vacuum, will not allow the suction cups to stick. This is why you never see suction cups mounted on trees! I tried them on my fiberglass boat, but they didn’t stick. What’s up? Washed your boat lately? Sometimes a residue of dust, grime, or cleaning chemical residue builds up on fiberglass, which allows air to interrupt the surface of the cup, and causes it to lose vacuum. The solution that works most often, is to rinse the area with clean water, and dry thoroughly. Then mount the BoatMates product to the clean surface. Also, most spray cleaners leave a residue on the surface of the fiberglass. Make sure you thoroughly rinse the area with clean water before mounting, if you have used spray cleaners on your boat. I’m missing a suction cup. Where can I get another one? Many of our retail partners stock our item 2200, replacement cups. If you cannot find them at your retailer, call us, and we can replace them. How long will the suction cups last? Usually they will last for for several seasons. In extremely hot climates, 2-3 years is normal, due to the high UV levels, which will more rapidly deteriorate resin products (including fiberglass). Replace your cups with our item 2200, every few years. I’ve got an aluminum boat, so I can’t use your stuff, right? Wrong! All of our products can be mounted to aluminum, wood, or ferro cement (remember that stuff?!), by using an acrylic based marine tape, or good old screws. Many of our customers with fiberglass boats use the suction cups to get a feel for where they want to use the product, then mount it permanently after a while.
