Cumberland
River Cruise Guide
by Fred Myers
(Author)
The Cumberland, relatively unknown to most skippers, offers 381 scenic miles of deep cruising water. The river's navigable upper end winds through the "Little Switzerland" region of north central Tennessee as it skirts the Cumberland Plateau. Then it flows through downtown Nashville, past Clarksville, and the Land Between The Lakes national recreation area before joining the Ohio River at Smithland, Kentucky.
The CruiseGuides
Praised by thousands of cruisers for their accuracy and no nonsense approach, the "Tenn-Tom Nitty-Gritty CruiseGuide," the "Tennessee River CruiseGuide," and the "Cumberland River CruiseGuide" are the only cruising guides devoted exclusively to these rivers.
Each book has a Reference Section providing valuable information on such subjects as navigation, communication, passing through navigation locks, and anchoring plus a quick reference mileage chart. The Cruise Section gives mile by mile coverage of marinas and anchorages plus notes on bridges, landmarks, points of interest, and local history.
The Author And Publisher
Fred Myers, a professional writer and photographer for 45 years, has lived in the Tennessee Valley since 1962. During the last nine years, he and his wife Joan have logged more than 23,000 miles on the Tenn-Tom, Tennessee, and Cumberland aboard their Gulfstar trawler, "Liberty Belle." Recently, Fred traded in his venerable Gulfstar for a new American Tug 34.
Fred maintains close contact with all the marinas plus the Corps of Engineers in his effort to keep the CruiseGuides up to date and complete. He is committed to providing cruisers with both vital information and interesting details to help make their cruising more enjoyable.
