This tremendously versatile 8x22 compact binocular with it's integrated 640x480 resolution digital camera is perfect for anyone who wants to view all the action up-close, and capture it digitally as well. The built-in digital camera captures what you see in the 8-power view of the binocular.

The Meade CaptureView represents the latest advancement in binoculars. The digital camera's automatic exposure, and focus-free settings makes it perfect for capturing sports, racing events, or distant wildlife.

What can I view with my CaptureView Binoculars?
A: Use your CaptureView Binoculars for Sporting Events, Bird-watching, Public Events, viewing wildlife. Anything you would use a standard pair of binoculars for, the CaptureView will see and give you the added advantage of capturing the image.
I have Windows XP. Do I need a special driver?
A: If you have Windows XP. Go to our webpage: http://www.meade.com/sportsoptics/catalog/captureview/index.html and download the CaptureView Certified Windows XP Driver. These drivers will automatically install and you will be able to easily connect to the camera.
Tip: If you are using Windows XP with a Pentium IV processor, Windows may ask you to install the driver more than once. If this is the case, follow the prompts in the "Install Driver Window", and continue to install the Driver as many times as Windows prompts you to. Normally this will only be 3 times. When Windows stops asking you to "Install New Drivers", the Scopecam driver will have been successfully installed.
Can I take pictures in cold weather?
A: Your CaptureView Binocular is rated to be used from 41F - 104F (5 to 40C), 20%-85% relative humidity, non-condensing. Using your camera in below freezing tempertures may not allow the camera to function normally, and may cause the batteries to lose their charge more quickly.

The Ulead Photo Express program doesn't see my camera. What do I do?
A: Make sure the camera is plugged in to the USB port of your computer. Verify that "Scopecam" appears as the data source within the Ulead Photo Express program.
If "Scopecam" does not show as the "Data Source" you will need to select "Change Device Type" and then select "Digital Camera".
If you see a message prompting you to "please choose data source", Select the "Scanner" and then scopecam will appear in the data source. Then select "Change Device Type" and choose "Digital Camera".
The Ulead program should now see the camera.
If this does not solve the problem, you may need to uninstall the Driver and then Re-install it.

The Ulead Photo Express program doesn't see my CaptureView Binoculars, and the CaptureView is stuck on the "PC" setting. What should I do?
A: If your CaptureView Binoculars become stuck on the "PC" setting, The Ulead Photo Express will not be able to "See" the camera. Take out the two AAA batteries and leave them out for approximately 5 minutes. This will delete everything from the memory of the CaptureView Binoculars and they will function normally after the batteries are replaced. Unfortunately you will lose all the pictures that were stored in the camera, but the camera will function again normally, and the Ulead program will be able to connect with it.
I have more than one USB port on my computer. Does it matter which one I use to connect the camera?
A: You can use any USB port. But it is important to note that you will have to install the "Scopecam" Driver each time you use a new port other than the original port you connected the camera to the first time.
My computer locked up while installing the Software. What do I do?
A: Follow any prompts on your computer. Reboot your computer if necessary. Then attempt to Install the Software anew. If this fails please install the drivers manually.
1. Return to the desktop.
2. Open Windows Explorer. Click [Start] button from bottom left of task bar.
3. Select "Run ..."
4. Type in "EXPLORER".
5. Click on [OK] button to run.
6. Click on "+" sign of "My Computer"
7. Click on CD-ROM drive where it labels "PE3". Expand the drive to show contents. Click "+" sign of "+ PE3(E:)"
8. Double left mouse click on the "Driver" folder to show the contents.
9. Double left mouse click on "Setup.exe" (if shown) or "Setup" with the blue computer shaped icon to run setup.
10. Follow the steps in the InstallShield Wizard to complete the installation of the driver.
Tip: If you have any problems using the Ulead Photo Express software. Please refer to the Ulead Photo Express Help file located within the Help Menu.
Can I use other programs to manipulate my images? Can I use them to download images from my Camera?
A: You can use your other photo imaging programs to manipulate your images. The CaptureView binoculars will have no trouble downloading images to other software.
How do I focus the Camera?
A: The camera will be in focus no matter whether the image is in or out of focus for your eyes. The range for the CaptureView binoculars is from 49 feet to Infinity for photography. The Binoculars will focus on objects 16.4 feet away, but for effective use of the camera, take pictures of objects from 49 feet to Infinity.
